Book Week 2017

This year, we took part in a week packed full of fun activities including paired reading, a teacher swap; where teachers read their favourite stories to another class and, we celebrated the work of different illustrators by re-creating some of their images from different stories. You can read about all the exciting things we did here!

A visit from an author!

At the start of the week, we had an author come to visit the Infants and Junior schools to perform some poetry and help us think creatively. This will help us to think more imaginatively in our writing. We loved listening to the stories he told and joined in with some of the actions. You can see how much we all enjoyed it in our big smiles below!

Paired Reading

Each infant class paired up with a class from the Junior school and were able to read stories to each other. The children really enjoyed sharing the stories that they enjoy reading with others.

Dress Up Day

On Friday, we all dressed up as our favourite book characters. We had a parade so that everyone could see how fantastic we all looked in our costumes and some lucky children were given prizes for their creative ideas. It was fun to see our teachers dressed up too!

Here are some photos of our parade:

Book Token Competition

We also held a competition where children designed their own book token. There were so many amazing entries and it was hard to pick the winners. Here are the winning tokens:
